Classy

The minimalist art worked very well here. Great sound quality and voice acting too. The plotline evolved at a perfect tempo, and it just seemed to be one of those novelty stories that only becomes enhanced when animated in Flash.

Excellent work! [5/5]

kendall92 responds:

thank you so much, this was a really nicely written review :)

Pumpin'

There must be a whole lot of truth behind those author's comments - in my opinion, the amount of work put into this flash does not need to be lucidated.

Snowbot was great, but this definitely tops it. The way you synced all of those clanks and whistles into your animation was superb. Additionally, there was a clear correlation between the momentum of the flash and the momentum of the music. That bit of choreography gave the flash more dimensionality.

Even without all of those advanced techniques, the basics - the animation and art - were also top notch. In fact, the vivacity of the animation perhaps surpassed the upbeat soundtrack!

Astounding effort! [5/5]

AKS9 responds:

wow, what an outstanding review :) thanks so much for writing it all
Personally I like snowbot more than this, since its a personal project and "short and sweet". But I'm really glad you like this one better really :D means my work paid off
thanks for the great words!!

Dear GOD Man!

Man, I've been here for a long time, but that was one flash of a select few that actually made me cringe. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but when that ... erm ... thing popped out of the bikini, oh man ... it was all over, Jack. AND, as if that wasn't enough, you just had to throw in that extreme close-up. Urgg.

Well, that's alright though, as shock value was clearly what you were banking on. It worked.

Excellent animation all around, and decent voice acting to boot. Good stuff!

aGhostlycobra responds:

First of all thanks for the review, its rare people write more than a sentence. And yeah the point of this one was very much shock value... and the punny dialogue which only help emphasize the uncomfortableness of the situation.

Stylish

Well, I haven't even seen the first two, but I can say that this one was fantastic. The two-tone artwork was crafted with precision, especially on the facial expressions. I always had a sense of space, in particular, regarding the size of the vessel. Again, considering you were only working with two values, that's not an easy achievement. I also really enjoyed the storyline. Interestingly, had I not enjoyed it so much, I probably would have been deducting points for slow pacing, but I believe in this case, that the slow pacing complemented the evolution of the storyline; I was trying to figure out what the organic compounds were right alongside the main characters.

Very good work.

smbhax responds:

I wasn't sure if the continuity of space between the control module interior, and the ship overall, would come across, so that's good to know. I'm glad you found that the pacing worked; this is actually the fastest-paced episode so far, believe it or not!

Terribly Bizzare

As a general rule, anything that makes me laugh-out-loud automatically receives a 10. Truthfully, out of 100 submissions, I usually only laugh at one or two of them - yours was a prime example. The ending nearly had me in tears, and the whole premise of the flash was just so incredibly strange. It was like the movie itself had an extra arm or something. Sick stuff. Fantastic work.

Markface responds:

You sound stranger than I am.

Beautiful and Heartening

It's funny. I normally hate anime, and I'm typically more fond of action or comedy flashes, but MAN! This really got me (in a non-teary, macho sort of way, of course). Really great stuff - I thought you spent the perfect amount of time building up the story, and at the same time, you didn't give the ending away. It was completely unexpected and completely charming. Great job! [5/5]

Nami-Oki responds:

Oh, thank you! ^_^ Haha it means a lot, I'm glad you liked it so much!

Whoa ...

This is raising the bar quite a bit as far as sprite flashes go. I really enjoyed the 3D effects, the fire, the voice acting, hell everything man. Besides your increasing expertise with sprites and movement, your style of humor has improved tremendously. Not to say you weren't funny before or anything, but your jokes are wittier and more creative. Just stopping by to say congrats. Possibly the best sprite flick out there.

Psycosis91 responds:

Thanks a lot man, it still means a lot to me when you enjoy my movies after all this time. I'm glad you enjoyed it and I can't wait for your next movie, it feels nice to get this kind of reception you got too used to for the Super Mario Land series. ;D

Captivating

I really enjoyed watching this one play out, as the message became more clear. The way you synced the sound effects was phenomenal, and it added a unique spin to your film. The graphics, while relatively simple, were crisp and the way you animated them put a smile on my face several times. Excellent job.

StupidDream responds:

Thanks man, I enjoyed reading your review. Glad you enjoyed watching the story unfold. That's always good to hear.

Fairly Creative

I guess I'll jump into the minority and leave a review.

I enjoyed the presentation you created here. At first glance, I thought some guy from the internet talking about his score/NG reviews would be deathly boring, but you (somehow) made it interesting. The narration certainly helped, as well as the cartoonish character models and decent animation. In fact, I was disappointed that this flick came to an end so quickly (even if the ending had SM64 music). Keep going with these and you'll have yourself a good little series.

PeteZahut responds:

sorry it eneded so soon, but I was done all my voice acting for the movie and didn't have anything else to add in. I'll try to make the next one longer.

Disappointing

Aw, man. I've enjoyed your work for quite a while, especially the Ultimate Tutorials and those fbf stick flashes you've made a while ago. I'm a fan of Mario, so when I saw the title (along with the alias), I was eager to view it. Sadly though, this turned out to be your average Mario movie - Luigi gets killed, Peach is missing, etc. Throw that on top of the DBZ cameos and spontaneous cussing, and matters just go down hill from there. It came to the point where I just had to X this one out in about 8 minutes time. It leaves a sour taste in my mouth, knowing that you're such a talented flash author, and that you've spent such a long time working on this thing.

I'll give you a 6 for the effort, and to not hurt your review average too much, but I'm positive you can manifest and create more intelligent and powerful movies.

GAMECUBICLE responds:

If you read my comments, you'd know its starts getting better after 8 minutes.
I suggest you go up to scene selection and start of where you left.
Cause in fact the first 8 minutes were created like 2 years back... the rest was done in the past few months, with me having a lot more experience.

But if you dont like the style, it can't be helped. I don't like the movie that much myself as well, but thats probably also cause I spend such an awfull lot of time with it.

Animation is great for so many reasons...whether you're looking to reconnect with your past, to express an opinion, dream, or thought, or to just make people laugh :)
