Yes. SIR! I was hoping the day would come when your art would meet code. Reminds me a lot of Yoshi's Island...seems a pleasure just to explore all of the nifty little animations and color palettes! Good luck!

Butzbo responds:

Woah, it's been a long process, but that's great to know! :D
By the way, that really makes me want to go back to that game; it had so much going on as a 2d platformer for its time.

Mr. Razi, once again you hit it out of the park, the troposphere, heck, out of the freakin' Oort Cloud. I am not the most liberal person on the planet, but if there's one section of the "crony capitalism" argument that I find particularly unctuous, it's the invidious profiteering off of college students by those ivory tower-dwelling leeches! From the textbook game to the parking game. The tuition is one thing, but to be nickel and dimed left and right. Jee-ZUS!

Raziberry responds:

Dude, I feel you. I feel you hard.

Jazz cafe, you say? I'll remember that one!

Crunchlins responds:

I enjoyed discovering that term too XD

You're learning. The animation is getting a bit smoother and your fight scene was much better this time. Your sprites don't look great; are you exporting at 100% image quality in your publish settings? You can also increase your sound quality the same way (the default setting for both is 80% i believe).

Anyway, this is much better than your first. The fight was more balanced and exciting. I would add some more special fx in your next flash. When an object lands, try animating a small dust cloud. When Megaman shoots, add 1 or 2 frames of flash on his armor. When Bowser's fireball crashes into something, try adding some smoke effects. Some of your sound fx were off too; they sounded like you were using your mouth and a cheap mic. There are great sound fx websites out there. Flashkit.com is a good start. If you want to go for consistency, try only using Mario and Megaman sound fx, filling in with other generic sounds only when you don't have another option.

I hope this info helps. Don't take it too hard, as you've made a lot of progress already. Looking forward to your next one :)

MoeMoeTheAbler responds:

No I understand completely. Some of the MegaMans and a Bowser I actually drew. Others were just copy pasted due to laziness on my part. I dont know what you mean by publish setting though. I use Adobe Flash CS3 and im not that great with it. (As you can see) Believe it or not I made most of the soundeffects myself. (Thats why they were off) Thank you though, Ill make sure I do all I can to touch things up a bit and make them look better in the future!

Your imagination is clearly kaleidoscopic.

danmarkowitz responds:

That's pretty colorful language.

Nailed it. That was so good, man. Loved the animation and color palette. Lip sync was spot on and the camera angles created a bunch of very dynamic scenes (the one that really stands out is when Mario and Luigi are running through the castle with the vines smashing the walls in). Outstanding work!

TerminalMontage responds:

Thanks man! :D

I remember the original coming out all those years ago. The overwhelming awesomeness of the color palette is still the most appealing element. The fishy guy has the most potential for comedic value imo. I get the whole "old project renewal" issue, especially in terms of dealing with a script. That said, I definitely feel like the writing was the weakest part of the flash; I found myself more interested in the ridiculously cool scene transitions and character design than plot development. Of course, that's not really a terrible thing, but I just think the talent gap between the art and the writing is glaring and needs to be addressed in the sequel. There were some snarky bits that I found really clever, like the boss's criticism of the "overly stupid character" in spite of his negligence to where pants. All in all, I'm eager to see part two. You've got a great team of voice actors, a unique art style, and you also did an amazing job on an original soundtrack. Interested to see where you take the plot.

Blordow responds:

Oh yeah it will definitely be addressed with the next part, the first part was extremely vague and really had a lack of direction, I had to make up what happened along the way visually, as their was no context, just voice actor lines and that's it. It was very difficult at times to work on it because I felt it lacked a lot but needless to say I think the next part that we have we-written will somewhat make up for the first part. Thanks for your review man, I appreciate your feedback!

Very good. Simple but touching message. NG needs more content like this.

Rrachel-chan responds:

Thank you :)

As the audience, you're sort of lured into a sense of complacency, as if to say "Well, yeah, there is a fisherman there, but he seems insignificant." You spend the majority of the film admiring the highly stylized graphics with their ironic color palette. The narrator's voice is clear, but a bit nondescript and hollow. But then the camera pans out and the cemetery comes into view behind him and right when a series of light bulbs go off in your head, the film is over, and you suddenly feel inquisitive and frustrated. Overall, very postmodern and a bit eerie, but certainly thought-provoking. Well done.

Gerkinman responds:

Im glad you found the film thought provoking, its something that I don't think a lot of my films can really achieve so its good hearing comments like this to let me know I am on the right path!

A charming flash from a charming man. Happy 10 years, dude! :D!

Yoshi-1up responds:

Thanks brotha! ;~; <3

Animation is great for so many reasons...whether you're looking to reconnect with your past, to express an opinion, dream, or thought, or to just make people laugh :)
