There are many things to like about this shot. I love the background. The hard and soft lighting effects are very well done, and the cylindrical shape of the sewer tunnel, Xel'Naga temple, Battle Cruiser fuselage, or what ever war-torn structure it is, is a nice offset to Kerrigan's jagged blades. I also enjoyed some of the creative liberties taken on the design of Kerrigan and her "pet." At first, I thought this was a classic Kerrigan/pet Zergling shot, but that Zergling is missing a set of claws and has more of a Hydralisk/Lurker headpiece. I like that, as either way, it is unequivocally Zerg, and perhaps a mutation we haven't seen before. Kerrigan herself is interesting, as she actually looks fairly vulnerable in this posture, almost as if she's just heard something and is beckoning her Zergling to halt. The skulls in the foreground also caught my eye, as they almost appear to be melting through the misty haze. This gives me the impression of a Diablo or DOOM-style hellish scene despite the cold blue tones, as if the skulls themselves were still experiencing anguish. Great rendition!

Fantastic. The amount of details on the armor is the cherry-on-top. I had a great time finding the "Easter Eggs" in the enlarged view.

Wow. That is exceptional. As good as all the detail on the combat suit is, I think it's her expression that gets me the most. For me, it's a look that says she's seen some things, despite a clean suit and not a single blemish or scar on her face.

One of the rare artists who always manages to bring a little magic to the table. It has been a pleasure following your projects all these years!

Woow that's so cool to hear, thank you Bigfoot!!

You're clearly a Zerg fan :D!

Still one of the most recognizable artists out there :)

Another masterpiece on perspective. Interesting idea for the three separate CD images!

Echoing what some others have already pointed out: stairs=mvp. This is such a challenging angle to execute properly, but the stairs, wall, bags, and castle really sell the notion that we are looking up at these wizards.

AlvinHew responds:

Woot, thank you!

Mathematical!

I say it all the time, but I love your style. It's so distinct and I can immediately tell your work apart from the others. Always makes me smile :D

Animation is great for so many reasons...whether you're looking to reconnect with your past, to express an opinion, dream, or thought, or to just make people laugh :)
