Better Than Pizza

I'm a big fan of Super Mario, and this was a pleasing tribute/game.

Pros:
+ Playing from Bowser's perspective was interesting. The ability to place Thwomps, Bomb-ombs, and other traps from a linear, "side-scrolling" view was also a welcome change from the typical aerial view that is commonplace in most defense games.
+ Very good variety in the available traps.
+ Sprite animations were accurate.
+ Custom construction of your own, Super Mario death course was tons of fun.
+ 20 levels to play and choose from.

Cons:
- Some traps were obsolete. A good example would be the Mega Mole: if Boos, Wrigglers, or Mecha Koopas were available, there was really no point in shelling out 250 gold for the mole men. Even the lava plant wasn't very effective in taking down the Mario Bros.
- Some traps were cheap/rigged, and they made the game quite easy. The Green Shell Launchers and the Mecha Koopas in particular could really carry a player through the game (as long as they were available of course).
- The 500 coin lava plant was a bit of a let down. It probably should've shot five fireballs instead of three.

The cons aren't very serious, and this was still certainly a great game (especially for your first defense game). Overall, it needs to be balanced a bit more, but I definitely enjoyed it.

Psychedelic, Brahh!

Really, I was about to X this thing out when all of a sudden, three more Pwong balls appeared on the screen - then five, then ten, then a billion or so. The gameplay (of the original Pong) is rather boring by today's standards, but this kept my attention for longer than I expected courtesy of the tripped-out colors/diffusions and the upbeat Popcorn remix. I believe those were the two critical assets of the game that took from being "good" to "great."

By the way, this looks it was inspired by Plasma Pong. I'm not sure if you know anything about it, but it's a free downloadable and you'd probably enjoy it.

Great Job!

JGames responds:

No I don't know plasma pong, but I searched it on youtube. Looks awesome!

Fantastic

Perhaps the most impressive thing about this game was the correlation between the music and the visuals. I felt as if the piano's harmonies were quite reflective of the spiraling or cascading shapes. The whole thing was rather hypnotizing! The engine ran flawlessly - I was especially relieved to experience no lagging with all of those symbols flying around. Having the "neutral" shapes colored a variety of blues and greens, instead of just a single value, also contributed to the visual razzle-dazzle.

As a fan of both classical music and graphic design, this one was right up my alley. Excellent job!

Awesome

I loved this. As you mentioned, it reminded me a lot of Diablo 2 (which is a very good thing). The gameplay was smooth and lively, as with all of your games. The runes and spells diversified the game nicely. The enemies were also unique, and it was a great feeling as I progressed through the game - discovering certain spells that were more effective against specific enemies. The graphics/animation was phenomenal - really, everything from the backgrounds to the character models. Fantastic stuff.

Yes.

Great job on this one man. As some of the others have already pointed out, these types of games are usually poorly synced and/or have serious lag problems. Yours, for the most part, was synced perfectly, and putting it on auto-low quality was a smart idea. I love how you related a good chunk of the game to Newgrounds, with the angryfaic pick and excellent audio portal songs. The story mode was actually pretty funny :P which made me boost the overall from a 9 to a 10 :D

So, best of luck as always with the contest and anything else you have planned. It was a nice surprise seeing your name in the most recent flashes. Cheers, man!

LilDwarf responds:

Hhaaha thanks alot buddy! I didn't make it all fancy because that was what causes the lag, and I worked over 5 hours straight synching those sogs, beat by beat. I'm really happy you liked it, I told you ;) Thanks again, and I appreciate all your support.

Flashy and Intuitive Gameplay

This was an excellent recreation and rejuvination of an old idea. It's fairly difficult to get used to, but after that, it's just one big light show. The most interesting aspect was that the lesser weapons retained their usefulness well into the game - rockets alone would only get you so far, as goes for lasers. It became a complex interface as you had to both switch between primary/secondary, as well as timing your projectiles in a mass asteroid onslaught.

This was an outstanding game, as expected from the creator of Pandemic.

No Organ Failure?!

I was disappointed when I realized that you removed the symptoms. Still, it remains a great game, although this version relies more heavily on luck, which in turn, lessens the amount of strategy required. Either way, I enjoyed it, and I hope you make the 'real' sequel even better :]

Clean ... Cute ...

Well, this was certainly very professional. Excellent physics and clean cut graphics. The camera movements were smooth and the game was easy to learn and manuver through. Perhaps, a little too easy. That was my biggest problem. There was hardly a challenge here. I stopped after level eleven or so, because each level wasn't much harder than the one before it. Still, it was a great game ... even better for little kids (I mean, there's even spelling involved!). Excellent work, man.

Great Work

Man, and I thought the first one was good. I appreciated the animated backgrounds. The sprites were also animated perfectly (although, I expected they would be :D). The remixed songs were a nice touch, as they were 'beefed up' and more hyper than the originals. They certainly fit the mood. The upgrade to 16-bit was a change for the better. The framerate was just as good as Bullet Bill 1, if not, better. Excellent job, man.

As soon as I finished reading your PM, I checked the portal. Sure enough, BB2. Under judgement and all. Now, maybe THIS will get you a weekly. It's about damn time >:D

Decent

It was great, until I discovered that all I had to do was swipe my mouse back and forth at the top of the screen. Supposedly by the three minute mark, I had 516 kicks and 52 balls going. Besides this fatal trick, the game was well made. Crips graphics and sound, etc. However, it loses its excitement factor rather quickly.

3.40/5.00, B-, 80/100

Animation is great for so many reasons...whether you're looking to reconnect with your past, to express an opinion, dream, or thought, or to just make people laugh :)
