Now THAT was a stunning flash movie.
Boogley, I love your work. When I saw your news post, I got all excited and giddy and quickly headed for your newest creation. The skull icon caught my interest, but I was simultaneously wondering if you could pull off a noir/horror style film when it seems as if your previous projects all involved overwhelmingly pink, gelatinous, and perhaps even sausage-like animation. Boy, you didn't let me down one bit.
The frame-by-frame animation was extremely impressive. The creme de la creme would have to be the sequence at the very end, where the man picks up the skull and turns it slowly toward his face. The way you captured all of the planes and angularity of the skull's surface with only two tones really elucidates this segment's craftsmanship. A second inspiring aspect of this movie was that you managed to maintain the stylistic shading/highlighting throughout its duration. Much of it appeared to be a bunch of scribble scrabble at first, but the design's continuity proved its artistry. From the car's headlights, to the man shoveling the grave, the animation, in general, was some of the best I have seen in quite some time.
The art, animation, and style of this flash would've been enough to warrant a 10, but there was a second, more interesting dimension to this work - the symbolism. It became clear that this sequence could be representational of a nightmare or flashback, as there were numerous instances throughout the movie in which the animation was literally mirrored. This typically illustrates introspection - most likely, the man remains tormented by that car accident. The noir artwork also supports this concept, but the complexity of the film, as previously noted, offers no clear answer and is a testament to its brilliance.
Boogley, fantastic work. It was a pleasure to watch and I'm eagerly looking forward to the next installment. [5/5]

You've blown me away with that review, thank you.
You've hit the nail on the head with the dreamlike qualities of everything after the funeral, the plan was to show his emotional state and to make the audience suspicious of his intentions and the circumstances of the car accident. The mirroring was something that had to be done out of necessity for the projection, so that everyone in the audience could take in crucial shots, but it did add that crucial soul searching aspect to the shot where he's looking around before digging, giving the sense that he's staring into himself.

Well, this isn't the best point-and-click shooter I've played, but it's put together pretty well.
I thought the upgrade system was fair and adequate, although the distracting "NEW ACHIEVEMENT/PERK" message was completely unnecessary (i.e. I lost a life on my first try because the pointless "whoopee you got your first kill" message popped up). In a game that tests your coordination and demands your full attention, the last thing the player needs is a distraction from the actual interface.
The graphics were obviously minimal, but they did their job. I thought the motion blurs were a bit over the top on the default setting, but then again, there were quality controls, etc. The controls were fine, which is the most important aspect of any game. I believe the excellence in that department saved this game from mediocrity.
I know I'm being critical, but I felt like this game had potential that you didn't fully exploit. Still, it was a lot of fun, and, surprisingly, it was quite a challenge as well. Good work. [4/5]

Thanks for the lengthy and informative review, I'll be sure to take these points into account if I make a sequel. Cheers!

I enjoyed pretty much everything about this flash.
Animation: A little choppy, a little jumpy, but you made it work. Excellent, consistent FBF animation overall - it really gave your movie an identity.
Art: Fantastic. The photoshop rendering of that fish creature was superb. While some of the drawings appeared haphazard at first glance, they always did their job - they were adequately representational of an object. There was also a fair bit of multi-level shading and highlighting throughout the movie. More importantly, these elements complemented the funny, cartoony style nicely.
Music & Sound: The music was upbeat and fitting. Good choice. The sound fx were even better, and you say you made half of them yourself? Bonus points.
Astounding work! I hope to see more. [5/5]
Author's Response:
I'm glad you liked the photoshop-made-fish, it took like 2 hours!
Heh, thanks for the 'structured' review :)

This was great man. I loved the old-American style animation and art. It was full of style and pizazz, and now I think I'm going to brew up some coffee :D Good work!
Author's Response:
Great stuff that coffee.
Thanks for the feedback :-D

The minimalist art worked very well here. Great sound quality and voice acting too. The plotline evolved at a perfect tempo, and it just seemed to be one of those novelty stories that only becomes enhanced when animated in Flash.
Excellent work! [5/5]

There must be a whole lot of truth behind those author's comments - in my opinion, the amount of work put into this flash does not need to be lucidated.
Snowbot was great, but this definitely tops it. The way you synced all of those clanks and whistles into your animation was superb. Additionally, there was a clear correlation between the momentum of the flash and the momentum of the music. That bit of choreography gave the flash more dimensionality.
Even without all of those advanced techniques, the basics - the animation and art - were also top notch. In fact, the vivacity of the animation perhaps surpassed the upbeat soundtrack!
Astounding effort! [5/5]
Author's Response:
wow, what an outstanding review :) thanks so much for writing it all
Personally I like snowbot more than this, since its a personal project and "short and sweet". But I'm really glad you like this one better really :D means my work paid off
thanks for the great words!!

Man, I've been here for a long time, but that was one flash of a select few that actually made me cringe. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but when that ... erm ... thing popped out of the bikini, oh man ... it was all over, Jack. AND, as if that wasn't enough, you just had to throw in that extreme close-up. Urgg.
Well, that's alright though, as shock value was clearly what you were banking on. It worked.
Excellent animation all around, and decent voice acting to boot. Good stuff!
Author's Response:
First of all thanks for the review, its rare people write more than a sentence. And yeah the point of this one was very much shock value... and the punny dialogue which only help emphasize the uncomfortableness of the situation.

Well, I haven't even seen the first two, but I can say that this one was fantastic. The two-tone artwork was crafted with precision, especially on the facial expressions. I always had a sense of space, in particular, regarding the size of the vessel. Again, considering you were only working with two values, that's not an easy achievement. I also really enjoyed the storyline. Interestingly, had I not enjoyed it so much, I probably would have been deducting points for slow pacing, but I believe in this case, that the slow pacing complemented the evolution of the storyline; I was trying to figure out what the organic compounds were right alongside the main characters.
Very good work.
Author's Response:
I wasn't sure if the continuity of space between the control module interior, and the ship overall, would come across, so that's good to know. I'm glad you found that the pacing worked; this is actually the fastest-paced episode so far, believe it or not!

As a general rule, anything that makes me laugh-out-loud automatically receives a 10. Truthfully, out of 100 submissions, I usually only laugh at one or two of them - yours was a prime example. The ending nearly had me in tears, and the whole premise of the flash was just so incredibly strange. It was like the movie itself had an extra arm or something. Sick stuff. Fantastic work.

You sound stranger than I am.

Really, I was about to X this thing out when all of a sudden, three more Pwong balls appeared on the screen - then five, then ten, then a billion or so. The gameplay (of the original Pong) is rather boring by today's standards, but this kept my attention for longer than I expected courtesy of the tripped-out colors/diffusions and the upbeat Popcorn remix. I believe those were the two critical assets of the game that took from being "good" to "great."
By the way, this looks it was inspired by Plasma Pong. I'm not sure if you know anything about it, but it's a free downloadable and you'd probably enjoy it.
Great Job!
Author's Response:
No I don't know plasma pong, but I searched it on youtube. Looks awesome!
